The Futility of Comparison

Is it possible to strive to accomplish or surpass the achievements of another with out fruitlessly comparing yourself to them?

One of the most beautiful aspects of mankind is that we are unique individuals, gifted with talents and traits that make us stand out from one another. In a society where social media drives the masses to be like one another, to lump ourselves in with the mindless drones, it seems now is the time to stand strong in your originality.

Does this mean we should not strive to mimic the mindset, actions or choices made by someone we sincerely admire, in order to meet our goals? I believe it is possible to be inspired and encouraged to accomplish and surpass the accomplishments of others while celebrating our individuality.

We this in mind, perhaps we can stop demanding others accept each other, trying to force people to assimilate to one way of thinking, but rather inspire each other to greatness through our differences.
